FOOD TRIPS: MU Noodle Bar

hello everyone!

another food blog here. :) last week after watching the film Star Trek: Into Darkness we tried out MU Noodle Bar at Glorietta 2. *yey for Japanese food!
when i first saw the place months before i immediately thought, "Gosh...mukhang mahal dito." however i was proven wrong and therefore i conclude NEVER JUDGE A RESTO BY ITS INTERIORS. :))
the place's decor is crisp, sharp and modern with a dash of blacks and whites that suits the taste of minimalist, such as myself. what attracted me the most are the high tables and stools that we sat on, these added drama in my dining experience.

FOOD PRICE RANGE: 200-500

 the decor. :)

gyoza and iced tea. :)

chicken with basil and pork chop noodle soup. :)

here's a sample of their menu i grabbed from their FB page.

there you have it! try out MU Noodle Bar. :)

simple delights!♥

“There are three possible parts to a date, of which at least two must be offered: entertainment, food, and affection. It is customary to begin a series of dates with a great deal of entertainment, a moderate amount of food, and the merest suggestion of affection. As the amount of affection increases, the entertainment can be reduced proportionately. When the affection IS the entertainment, we no longer call it dating. Under no circumstances can the food be omitted.”

― Judith Martin

hello guys!

how was your day? i had a blast this week all because i was surrounded by scrumptious food! yey! foodie heaven indeed. as i said bye bye to my "supposed to be summer body," i embraced the fact that food will never be out of my system. :) well at least i'm happy!

let's start shall we.

1. GILIGAN'S
-after our choir meeting, A and i with a couple of friends, decided to grab a bite at BGC. however, seeing that the entire Mercato was occupied we headed to Makati Ave. and parked at A. Venue Hall.
it was a nice change of scenery. :) to think that we spend most of our time in Glorietta and Greenbelt.
it was a nice choice because even though its a Saturday night they have plenty of spaces for guys like us who are not looking for beers.
-total money spent here was 130php.

A and me.♥ while waiting for the meal.

2. BIGOLI
-this Sunday i met my college barkada in TriNoma.
-we met at this Italian resto, i love the decor and the friendly service.
-the servers are roaming around to offer free, unlimited bread sticks! yum!
-total bill of my meal was 235php (this comes with unlimited iced tea)

me, ate Zee and Caren.♥

3. SUMOSAM
-for the last stop, A and i ate at this restaurant, also in TriNoma. :)
-A has a very huge appetite, i mean really, so going into this place was totally worth it. its kinda pricey. :P
-i loved the Salmon Sashimi and A's Chicken Teriyaki Donburi.
-i also loved the ceramic plates and saucers that they provide so i also took some photos of those too!
can't get enough inspiration!

salmon sashimi is LOVE! :) with lots of wasabi in the dipping soy sauce!

chicken donburi that is surely filling! :)
the perfect remedy for A's craving for rice meals!

there's always room for dessert! this is SumoSam's version of a banana split!

the ceramic plate and saucers i really liked! :))

what a yummy, delish and satisfying week! i can't wait for this week and the following weeks to come!
i hope you guys enjoyed your 1st week of April!
catch you guys again next time!

china! china! *boom! *boom! *boom!

hello!

when i was a kid my lolo and lola used to tell me stories about their famous hang outs when they were in their prime. they would narrate the story so vividly that i though i was with them all the time!
their ultimate favorite was China Town in Binondo. :)
my lola (grandma) is partly Chinese while my lolo loves Chinese cuisine so i could definitely conclude that they spent hours walking, shopping and getting lost in the busy streets of China Town.
and when we were born, we spent gatherings in authentic Chinese restos in the same area.

last monday, my aunt and i went to Manila to buy stuff for my lolo. we decided to drop by Binondo to shop and eat miryenda plus meeting A halfway.

we 1st entered Sta. Cruz church and prayed for the Papal Conclave. :) this church was one of the earliest buildings found in Manila, right now it is undergoing renovation.

then we walked from Sta. Cruz to Binondo a couple of blocks away. we visited one of our favorite shops, SHIN TON YON. this is located along Salazar St. just in case you guys wanna visit here the next time. :)
i took the liberty of snapping some pictures of the delicacies they are selling. :)

the top photo: these are different kinds of Kikyam that they are selling. i believe that this store also makes those. we often buy pork kikyam but the varieties ranges from chicken kikyam to a seafood one.
the bottom photo: these are a wide variants of viands that they cater. they have veggies, beef, pork, chicken and seafood balls.
that's not the only thing they are selling...they have their own cured meat and sausages.
what gave me the goosebumps are these!!!!

NOTE: not the chicken BUT THE ORANGE THINGS ON THE LEFT!
according to the expert, who is by the way my grandfather, these are octopuses. STUFFED octopuses. don't ask me what they taste like 'coz i haven't tried them before. maybe next time i will.

along Ongpin St., we bought fresh vegetables from side walk vendors. the vegetables here are green, crisp and did i mention cheap? haha. perfect for a seafood hotpot! the sidewalks are also filled with vendors selling rare dried fish!

finally, eating miryenda at ENG BEE TIN. :) a small fast food stall that is budget friendly! value meals starts from 65php-95php. specialty soups are from 130-250php.
my taste buds are  enticed with that bona fide Chinese authenticity zing. two thumbs up!

one afternoon isn't enough to scurry the streets of China Town. we have only been on 2 streets but we did a lot, imagine going to more! maybe next time i'll feature Alonzo St. home to the famous noodle place, LING NAM. :)
wherever food is; we came, we saw and we conquer!

ambrosial February! :P

hello!

before anything else let me quote Virginia Woolf.

“One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.”

true enough, one cannot even bring him/herself to a proper start without food. food is both a physiological and anatomical need of our body for it to function properly; repair damaged tissues, send impulse from this area here to that area way over there, balance our walking, process information, etc. its simply a vital part of your biology.

have you been in a situation where in you are being shunned by one of your friends in a college group work, only to find out later that  particular classmate of yours didn't have lunch or something to it? food can affect one's way of thinking and reasoning that is why if you're hungry grab something to eat! you'll absolutely feel much better!
just want to share with you guys 2 of the restaurants we have visited this month!

SOI
its a Thai fusion resto @ the newly opened Glorietta wing.
perfect combination of a light sweet and spicy Siam cuisine!

the set-up! gotta love it because its HOT PINK!♥

our entree:
top left: its a noddle dish topped with stir-fried chicken and veggies
top right: pork satay, its just like our bbq, but served with curry paste and chopped onions and chili.
bottom left: lemongrass-ginger fusion tea! :) yummy and really refreshing!
bottom right: its a Thai version of fresh spring rolls.

RED KIMONO
this is my first time in this resto because everytime i wanted to try it out, the lines are just too long!
now i know why.
i really enjoyed my dining!
prices are very reasonable, just try it out. :)

my recommendations:
try the CRUNCHY MAKI (either of the 3)- really mouthwatering!
ebi tempura. :)
teki-udon noodles
and gyoza
they are also serving milk teas!

having a good meal in anytime of the day is your right as a human being! hahaha!
my daddy's wisdom is this: "don't think twice about spending money on food. its good to have a nice full meal before you die than going in the afterlife famished!"
i know its a bit brutal but hey that's pretty much true! :)

here you go!
have a delightful meal everyone!

5thingsi♥: V-DAY.♥

hello everyone!

its officially the start of the 2013 Holy Week, this means we have 40 days to repent and to get ourselves ready. :)

BUT WAIT!
let's not forget that valentines day is also tomorrow!♥
yey!!!!

okay..here's the deal. not all of us are in a romantic relationship, maybe some are coming from a break up or a tough time in work but who said you can't have FUN?

for this post i would just like to share with you the things that i'm currently loving that could be a part of your special V-day.♥

1. BURGER KING'S BBQ STUNNER PROMO
- how about skipping Mcdonald's and Jollibee for a day and try BK's burgers instead!

2. THE BIG CITY
-another new resto to try tomorrow. :) its located at the newly opened wing of Glorietta in front of KFC.
they offer grilled burgers, hotdogs and sausages.
grilling the meat gives a distinct charred flavor that adds to the overall package!
coming here with your girlfriends or even your mom and aunts (like i did) will be fun and also perfect for tomorrow!

3. BONO (artisanal gelato)
-when passing through Glorietta to SM Makati, its impossible to miss this colorful eye candy of a shop!
its my first time here with my brother, Kai and we loved the 1st ever flavor we tried and that's MILK AND CEREAL.
gotta try more of their fun flavors soon!

plus this gelato comes with a heart-shaped waffle on top! V-DAY PERFECT!♥

4. F21 Basic V-neck shirts
-nothing to wear?
basic pieces are essential key in building a wardrobe, so i got this plain white v-neck shirt (V for valentines!) from Forever21.
just pair it up with jeans and flats for a effortless look! well, that's just me. hehe.
the price is not bad and i love how super soft it is and its light that makes it perfect for traveling.
WHAT I'M WEARING:
TOP- F21
JEANS- Mudd (SM)
BAG- from Thailand
SHOES- Monobo Flats
ACCESSORIES:
Watch- Gold Seiko V (again V for V-day hahahha!)
Belt- gift
Necklace- made out of clay; from Cebu

5. SPREAD THE LOVE, IT NEVER FAILS.♥
-valentines is not all about having romantic dinners or expensive gifts but its a celebration of love itself.
simply say, "I love you." mean it and prove it. :)
i'm sure it will make anyone smile.
that's one gift i'd like to receive tomorrow.

valentines its about GOD. He is love.
have fun tomorrow!♥

its been a busy 1st week of February for me as there was a wedding, voice lessons, and i finally got to watch Les Miserables! yey for me! that was the first movie i've watch this year! thank the Lord that i didn't miss that chance to watch the movie in the big screen, i'll definitely regret it if i did. so many words of compliment that i had in my mind to praise the movie, it will take the whole page, but for this entry i'll simply say, BRAVO! BRAVO! BRAVO! :)

here are some picture of the activity-packed weekend! enjoy!

@the Cuachon's after choir practice with Sir Raffy Balagot

“It requires a certain kind of mind to see beauty in a hamburger bun.” -Ray Kroc

hello!

kamusta everyone? <*cheerful tone>

i'm really happy to share a new discovery of good, satisfying burgers! :) hehehe well since i was quite disappointed that my ol-time fave burger stand started using as many meat extenders than real meat. *ehem! if you guys had the same sentiments, YOU ARE NOT ALONE! i feel for you!

anyway the story goes like this...12 or so past midnight while on our way back from the last wedding, without having dinner and the last meal was served on 2pm, our stomachs were churning in pain! literally! i was used in skipping meals (for diet's sake, cramming, etc.) but this was the first time i felt the cramps of my abdominal muscles and felt the acid rising from my stomach.

GOOD THING!
THE BURGER PROJECT was just at Jupiter cor. Planet Sts. Makati City! when we saw it the 5 of us lit up and had one of the best times in a resto! :) the signage out front was really eye catching, simple and appealing to anybody. heck! even the name of the restaurant was very interesting. (see below)

once inside we were greeted by the friendly staff and gave us this mini clip boards that contains our order sheet. an individual sheet was exclusive to one person only. the fun of filling up that blank checklist of numerous choices of burger toppings, sauces, buns, and even Angus or regular beef patty sets the dining excitement to a whole new level. :)

the food (burgers) was YUMMMMY! scrumptious if you must. the serving of just 1 burger was like..hmm...6 inches in diameter! if couldn't devour the whole thing you could share it! :) we also order the mozzarella sticks, chili fries and animal fries, yummy as well and talk about filling! the milk shakes was thick and very creamy. i really can't express it in english but in tagalog, "alam mo na hindi ka tinitipid."

soooo...last night i was with my family and A. i introduced them to TBP. :) and just as i thought...THEY LOVE IT!

sorryy..i look ridiculous! haha :)

me and A plus vanilla milkshake!

my mama, she ordered French Lick...well she loved the burger but it was too big for her..sooo i ended up finishing it for her. :) big room in my tummy!

ze daddy with ze mama :)

the boys (my bros) and my tita Gay enjoying the fries as their appetizers.

my Tita Gay ordered the Western burger (i think) hehe..is a burger with 2 pieces of onion rings, with the patty, and a lot of burger topping goodies, its like a tower when they serve it.

okay..this is Kai's own customized 2-patty burger. :)

daddy. :) enjoying his Chori burger.
note: Chori (accd to dad) is a beef patty that has similar taste to our longganisa.

Zyg and Kai

A also customized his burger. dozing his double patty with a combination of  teriyaki and garlic sauce.

for the brave one Ken, topping his double patty with pickled jalapeños in a potato bun :)

there you have it fellas! i hope that this long post has made you wanna try this resto. :) just in case you want to try something new other than the fast food stalls.
they are open until midnight during weekdays and up until 3am during weekends. branches are in QC (teacher's village) and in vito cruz, near La Salle.

hope you guys had a nice day!
goodnight!
